“I have a track record of building businesses quickly across a range of different sectors, both in the UK and abroad”
1982 - 1987
I worked around the globe with the oilfield service company Flopetrol Johnston Schlumberger. My first posting was in Holland, then on to Denmark, Syria, Egypt, Qatar, Tunisia, South Africa, Pakistan, Angola and Congo! My final position was as the base Manager in Gabon.
1988
I spent a fabulous year at INSEAD studying my MBA. It was an amazing time building long-term friendships, playing rugby and enjoying the parties!
1989 – 1992
My next move was to join the venture capitalist company 3i Group, where I ended up running their Hull office.
1992 – 1995
This is one of my big career achievements. The family emigrated to Australia where I joined Hagen & Co. I opened their Industrial Consultancy’s first overseas office, growing the business from scratch to annual revenues of A$1.5m in three years. Working with amazing clients including Lion Nathan, Burns Philp, Amcor and Unifoods.

1995 – 2000
Remaining with Hagen & Co I returned to the UK to take responsibility for their main UK office, another of my career highlights. Their annual growth had stalled at £1.5m and our largest client, Heinz, had just decided it would be able to carry on the work independently - putting half of the 12-man team 'on the beach'. I refocused the team, we rebuilt the sales acquisition process AND fundamentally revamped the recruitment process. The result - doubling revenues to £3m within 18months. We added brilliant new clients including Guinness, Associated British Foods, Courtaulds and Gallaher - plus we had a client waiting list!

2000 -2002
I then joined Dixon Motors PLC where my work focused on doubling the throughput of the Car Distribution Centre at Thorne. I left when the business was sold to RBS.
2002 – 2007
I was then invited to take up an MD role within the Certainty Group. A new group had been formed by the acquisition of two businesses in the Facilities Management (FM) sector. One an FM provider the other in electronic security. We rebranded both businesses, set a clear Vision with supporting Mission & Values. We tripled the size of group from £3m to £9m in three years - another of my career achievements. We didn't stop there! A new commercial interiors business was added, along with the sale of the electronic security business, and in 2007 the Facilities & Interiors businesses were merged with the larger Work Inc Group.

2007 – 2008
At Work Inc I was the MD of Work Facilities and Work Services. Responsible for both the FM and furniture services businesses of the group. Among other things we provided furniture services to every building in HBOS and sold a seven-figure contract for Furniture Services to Barclays.
2008 – 2009
Work Inc was sold to Eastlake which led to another name change and rebrand. The company’s largest clients were HBOS and RBS, and together accounted for over 50% of total revenue. Both clients drastically reduced demand in autumn 2008 due to the financial crisis, causing the parent company and all subsidiaries to go into administration in May 2009. The trade and assets of Work Facilities and Work Services were acquired by Europa within one week of the failure.
2009 – 2014
Initially at Bilfinger Europa I managed the contracts that had been purchased by Europa. I was then made MD of the largest sector in the business, Corporate and Retail, in January 2010, where I delivered another great career achievement. We doubled the size of this business from £30m in 2010, to £60m in 2012, by winning new contracts and enlarging the work with existing clients. In 2012 I was asked to focus purely on the growth of Retail. By 2013 we were providing FM services to over 70 UK shopping centres including 12 of the UK's top 30. I left shortly after the business was acquired by the German conglomerate Bilfinger in December 2013.

2014 – 2017
I was then headhunted to take on the CEO role of the newly formed, VC backed, building services group, Thermotech, established from three businesses acquisitions. Once again, I set about a rebrand, creating a Vision, Mission & Values and growing the business and team. We grew revenues from £8m to £14m in three years, partly by a further acquisition, but also by developing the team so that they could run the business without me.
2017 - Present
It was then time for me to focus on what I wanted to do with the rest of my life! I had some great conversations with some great people and when I came across ActionCOACH I knew I had found my next adventure. The people, values and the structure they provide were a great foundation for me to launch into Business Coaching. Since then, I have been helping business owners to develop their 'good' businesses into a 'great' business; one which will work without them so that they too can choose what to do with the rest of their lives.
These results have been delivered across a range of sectors and countries, in a variety of MD and CEO roles.
I have worked in the oil industry in Europe, the Middle East and Africa
Worked for a brief spell in Venture Capital
Worked with large manufacturing companies in Australia, USA and the UK
I also have significant leadership experience in businesses in both retail and the support services sectors.
Although growth in the examples above has largely been delivered through focused business development strategies, I have also led both acquisition and integration processes.
A team player with a keen eye for detail and strong commercial and financial acumen, I am passionate about helping individuals, teams and businesses to achieve their full potential.
I provide coaching to all levels, in all aspects
